"Smart" door seal will improve the indoor climate

Today's window and door design that is manufactured with the use of new technologies and materials, more or less securely protect the room from the exhaust gases, dust and noise. However, this isolation has a downside: over time, in the room increases the content of carbon dioxide, which adversely affects the health of people in the room, they can experience drowsiness, fatigue and too fast to overwork. How can that be?
The output is as old as the world — simply to ventilate the room. However, scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for microelectronic circuits and control and management systems in cooperation with the Athmer company offered an alternative.

They created a so-called intelligent door seal. The system works in the following way. A special sensor constantly monitors the level of carbon dioxide inside the building. As soon as the exceeding of a certain threshold, the electronics sends a signal to a tiny electric motor, which is connected with the springs at the bottom of the door leaf. After tripping of the mechanism is increased clearance between the seal and the door frame, which improves the inflow and outflow of air.
The system is preferably used in combination with ventilation and climate installations in the building. This will give the desired rate of air circulation with simultaneous optimization of temperature and power consumption.
