European scientists learned how to feed oil spills bacteria

It is no secret that oil spills on land and at sea, causing tremendous harm to the environment. Scientists in many countries for many years are addressing this without exaggeration global problems.

The main method of localization of oil spills is to install special fencing and subsequent mechanical Assembly of the oil from the water surface. However, it has two major minus – leakage through the barrier and the inability to fully remove all the contamination. And that's where the person came by nature.

It turns out that in the sea there lives a class of microorganisms that love to eat oil. Their "services" decided to take advantage of biochemists headed by Professor Nicolas Kalogerakis. The aim of the research is the introduction of technologies that activates the bacteria, which accelerate the biodegradation of contaminants.

In the first stage the stain is covered with a special composition of herbal oils which crushes it into fine droplets and then begin to act neftianye bacteria. By the way, in natural conditions they find space pollution. And then the bacteria eat the oil, they make up the plankton, and further along the food chain. In this regard, the main task of scientists is to significantly promote the growth of these bacteria in polluted waters.
