Shampoos hinder the development of nerve cells in the fetus

American scientists from the University of Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh) found that the use of shampoo during pregnancy can damage fetal development, writes tabloid the Guardian.

In the production of shampoos and other care products for skin and hair, as preservative, widely used methylisothiazoline (methylisothiazoline).
According to Professor of neurobiology Elias of Eisenman (Elias Aizenman), this substance can disrupt nervous system development in the fetus, preventing the formation of connections between nerve cells.
Methylisothiazoline also finds application in water treatment at plants where it is used in the production process.
As noted by Dr. Eisenman, it can be dangerous for pregnant women working in such enterprises.
In response to these concerns, representatives of the American Association of cosmetics, perfumery and personal care products said that methylisothiazoline successfully passed many tests confirming its safety.

Earlier, British scientists conducted a study which showed that volatile organic compounds in the composition of deodorants and air fresheners can cause intestinal disorders in infants.

According to another study in deodorants contain substances that increase the risk of breast cancer.
According to Dr. Eisenman, will require additional safety studies of cosmetic products of daily use.
