Texas man builds house of 50,000 beer cans

A beer can house built in Houston, Texas has been officially named a local landmark. It was created by the late John Milkovich, who began collecting building material for a unique home in the 1970s. He trimmed the assembled cans and made them flat for the cladding of the house, the walls of which were also built of beer containers, Inhabitat reported.

In addition to beer cans, Milkovich used broken glass to decorate the site. Covers from the main building material served as the basis for shining decorative panels. The house is now open to visitors and is curated by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.

Milkovich was born in the era of the Great Depression, so he had a habit of saving on everything and making the most of it. Looking at the old beer cans accumulated in the basement, he decided to flatten them all by hand and start building a unique house. The first walls were laid in 1968. He also added beer bottles to the walls, which now give an interesting lighting effect inside the room. The fence around the site he built from boxes of bottles and cans.
