Young ecostrategy go to New Orleans
Four lucky winners won a grant and go to the exhibition GreenBuild-2014.
This joyous occasion is the result of collaboration Green Building Aliance (GBA) of Pittsburgh, USA and ecostrategy from Russia. The beginning of the partnership began in 2013, when GBA CEO Mike Schiller became friends with Englishman guy Isom of RuGBC.
After this guy Eames and Svetlana Koshkina (Head "Forum of green development") visited the United States in the fall of 2013. Together with the staff of the GBA they visited Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and Filadelfia, where they held meetings with employees of the Us green building Council (USGBC), demonstrated the achievements of ecological construction in the Russian Federation, including those told about the "green" Olympic venues in Sochi. Also guy and Svetlana have visited many "green" buildings, met such notables in the field like bill Macdonal (Bill McDonaugh) and participated in the business and exhibition program GreenBuild-2013. Today between the Russian and the American Council have a very close contact.
After that, the Pittsburgh delegation (Michael Sobkowiak, Nancy Hart, and Janel Everly) visited Russia in the spring of 2014. Janel held a preparation course for the LEED GA, Nancy and Michael made presentations to the government and business groups, visited the MosBuild in Moscow and a large number of "green" buildings and construction sites in many cities of Russia (Nizhniy Novgorod, Saint-Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi).
Today we have a new stage of cooperation — the Green Building Alliance and the Russian green building Council recently had the opportunity to announce a competition for young specialists from Russia for a grant to travel to the world's major exhibition of green building in New Orleans! This feature (program funded by the U. S. State Department''s Peer-to-Peer Dialogue Grant will give the opportunity to those who are interested and involved in green building, meet staff GBA and get a portion of inspiration, motivation and advanced education on the Greenbuild exhibition-2014!
A few weeks ago we shared with GBA announced this opportunity, received many applications from students and young professionals who wanted to make this an unforgettable journey. Among the four winners – two urban planner, engineer and economist. Let them get acquainted!
Maria Viktorova works in the Department of Architecture and urban planning of the city of Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan). Maria recently received her master's degree in urban planirovaniyu Higher School of Economics. As volunteer Mary with 2010 attended events RuGBC and made reports, kept our page on feybuke. Also Maria this summer, successfully passed the LEED GA.
"A few years ago I decided to dedicate my graduation research green building – then in my city (Ufa, quite far from Moscow) it was difficult to find people who knew the word. An important step for me was familiarity with the community of ecostrategy in Moscow. Upcoming Hiking will allow me to meet with international professionals – I still believe in it hard! For me ekostrategija is a certain way of thinking, I dream to implement these principles in the educational process at the University. Looking forward to GreenBuild 2014 and new knowledge "
GASICA Margaryan Specialist of green materials, which recently received a bachelor's degree at the Russian University of friendship of peoples. Gagik from Armenia, he is interested in problems of selection of effective materials for low-rise construction. Working in a leading Russian firm for the sale of èkomaterialy, active member of the RuGBC.
"I really want to experience GreenBuild 2014 with the head, this is my first experience of this kind: a trip somewhere with the purpose of gaining knowledge, information and useful acquaintances and contacts. Looking forward to a real interesting trip with nice people and brand new sensations! I hope to get as much information as possible about contemporary building materials and trends in the development of green building market in the world, to improve their English language skills and see New Orleans."
Sophia Bruskina received a bachelor's degree in Economics at Moscow state University and a master's degree in urban planning at the Higher School of Economics. Sophia is the youngest among the participants – she is 22. The Sophia has experience working as a consultant for Ernst and Young, center of smart cities. In addition, she passed her LEED Green Associate exam, and now works in the sphere of urban planning and development
"Since the beginning of the work in the field of construction and spatial planning I was interested in the possibility of creating a truly attractive for people, objects and spaces which are economically feasible and sustainable from the point of view of impact on the environment. Greenbuild 2014 for me will be the first international event in the field of green building. Looking forward to discussions and presentations related to green spatial planning, new approaches to the organization of urban space. In my opinion, architecture and building are tools that can mitigate the socio-economic problems of society. At Greenbuild-2014, much attention is paid to issues of poverty, social development disparities, segregation. These and other problems can and should be solved with the help of green practices in Russia"
Alexey Novikov - engineer, specializiruetsya on energy-efficient lighting solutions, worked at Lutron Electronics (a leading company in this field, member of the RuGBC) in Lighting Control and shading System. Now Alex works as a consultant around the world in the company of Targetti Poulsen Industries. Alex is deeply versed in his field, planning to pass the exams LEED and BREEAM.
"The trip to the GreenBuild conference in 2014 expect the transition to the next professional level by gaining new knowledge, business relations and expand the horizons. The development direction of green building will help to increase the number of buildings constructed of sustainable materials, reduce the consumption of our planet's resources in Russia and as a consequence will reduce the negative impact on her and our health and well-being!
