Stem cells of the skin will help restore the brain

People with Parkinson’s disease have hope. Scientists from the Center for Biometric Research, together with colleagues from the Planck Institute of two leading universities in Germany, received stable nerve tissue implanted in the brain of mice.

For this, stem cells were isolated from the tissues of the tested mice. These cells were synthesized in the laboratory and there were reprogrammed into nerve neurons, which were implanted in the brain. Since the biological material was taken directly from the recipient, the compatibility between the cells was ideal. And after six months, there were no rejections or negative consequences after the transplant.

This is not the first time such experiments have been conducted. But such good results have been achieved only now after a series of long experiments.

With the help of neuron transplantation, it will be possible to cure many neurological diseases, including Parkinson's disease. Scientists say that now could start transplanting nerve endings to patients. Transplanted neurons may well fill the holes in the brain formed during the disease, which will affect a noticeable improvement in well-being.
