How many live men say the Y-chromosome

Statistically, men die before women because they are more at risk of cancer. This is due to age-related changes of human cells. They observed a change in DNA that is directly associated with the development of diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

For many years, scientists tried to trace and find the relationship between loss of the Y chromosome and male life expectancy. Swedish researcher Lars Forsberg with a team from Uppsala University has figured out why women live longer than men.

The results of their research, geneticists published in the journal Nature Genetics. For their implementation they used more than 1600 blood samples taken from elderly men. It was found that changes in DNA often occurs due to the loss of Y chromosomes of white blood cells.

Recall that the Y-chromosome is present only in men. The genes responsible for the sex of the person involved in the development of the seed and contain a certain amount of hereditary information. It should also be noted that the Y-chromosome plays almost the main role in the fight against cancer.

Experts say that in the future analysis of the Y-chromosome in men will be a useful marker in determining the risk of developing cancer.
