The teenager invented a new type of solar panels

Teenager Milan Karki from rural Nepal has found a solution to the world’s evolving energy needs. He proposed a new type of solar panel using human hair.

The fact is that hair can easily serve as current conductors in solar panels and could revolutionize renewable energy. This will make energy cheaper and cleaner.

“First I wanted to provide electricity to my house, then to my village. Now I'm thinking about energy for the world, says the 18-year-old inventor. Hair replaces silicon, an expensive component that is commonly used in solar panels, meaning that panels can be made at a low cost for those without access to electricity.

The Milan-built solar panel produces 18 watts of power and costs just $38. Now the teenager is trying to establish a commercial production, reports Facepla.net.

Mass production would reduce the cost of production by a quarter. A solar panel can charge a mobile phone or a couple of batteries that can provide light for an entire evening.
