The Netherlands said "no" to the products of the company Monsanto, banning the herbicide roundup

The Netherlands joined Russia, Tasmania and Mexico, saying a decisive "no" products of multinational company for the production of genetic modified products of Monsanto (Monsanto). In accordance with the recent decision of the Parliament of the Netherlands, starting from the end of 2015, the sale of glyphosate-based herbicides to private parties will be prohibited.

This means that people who are accustomed to use for their gardens and lawns roundup, will have to find another form of pest control. Glyphosate, the main ingredient in this product, produced by Monsanto, was found to be very toxic substance that causes infertility, birth defects, cancer, diseases of the nervous system and kidneys.

It is worth noting that in April last year, the Party for the protection of animals and the Fund Bollenboos launched the notification Center Gifkikker.nl where citizens of the Netherlands expressed its concern about the use of glyphosate. The Council for the protection of health of the Netherlands supported this initiative and a social movement to ban the use of the herbicide roundup was officially recognized.

It is hoped that the actions of the Netherlands against the use of Monsanto products will be a source of inspiration for the authorities of other countries, including in USA where millions of residents have expressed a desire to ban herbicides. However, still with the U.S. quality supervision, food and drug administration (FDA) and the Department of agriculture (USDA) is doing little to address this issue.
