The future of virtual channels

Virtual reality increasingly penetrates into a person's life. Experts believe that soon this technology will reach a wide audience thanks to broadcast television. The development of technology brings us neatly to the transition to a fully immersive virtual TV, which was one of the topics of discussion at the SouthWest VR conference in Bristol in the South West of the UK.

We need to think outside the 16:9 format. The convergence between television and games causes us to act, said Edward Miller, member of the project Immersive.ly to create news apps of virtual reality.

According to the resource IBTimes, call Miller reflects the thoughts of the scientists of Stanford University, whose recent study of the effect of immersive technology has shown that virtual reality has a much greater effect than just improves the perception of sound and video.

Miller believes that virtual reality is still at the same stage of "wow-effect", and film for more than a century ago, when approaching the camera train literally shocked the viewer. The question is whether visual content to go beyond certain limits, to become a new form of interactive storytelling.

For a proper understanding of the potential of virtual reality Miller introduced a new term: telehora ("Telenor"), where "tele" apparently refers to the TV, and under the "hora" — space. As the telephone (the"hearing distance") and television ("see remote"), "telecare" refers to the ability to receive impressions in the distance.

The idea of "telegony" was implemented on the example of the panoramic video of the protests demokraticheskih activists in Hong Kong. Viewers were asked to visit the scene with virtual reality devices such as Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.

To date, one of the problems of using VR headsets is that they can cause dizziness and nausea. This often happens in a sudden change of the observed scenes. Manufacturers of VR devices are working to ensure that people are not sick of virtual reality.

It is difficult to predict where the users will want to use VR technology, when it appears in every living room. It is unclear whether virtual reality be used privately or together with friends, as well as how much it will spend personal time.

Importantly, virtual reality was not a trap for our consciousness, which is preparing for us DARPA. published
