Electric car for Antarctica
Venturi Antarctica is a prototype electric vehicle designed for solving problems in the climate record cold of Antarctica. It has no pedals or steering wheel and is controlled by a joystick.
Elektromashina uses a battery of 23 kWh, two electric motors and wheels or tracks, depending on configuration. The Rover is quite compact: 3 m long, 2.3 m wide and 1.8 m in height. During the tests was checked the capability of the machine to rotate 360 degrees on the spot and also to overcome the hills with inclination up to 40 degrees. Tracked version of the Rover can accelerate to 25 km/h and the wheel to 45 km/h.
The electric car does not pollute the environment, which is especially important to scientists collecting samples of ice in Antarctica, as even one additional molecule may threaten the integrity of the sample. Tests showed that the machine can be operated at temperatures up to minus 40 degrees Celsius.published
