Dubai moves to environmentally safe cement





From 1 April 2015 in Dubai entered into force a law requiring owners of land and contractors to use in construction only environmentally friendly cement. According to the head of Dubai municipality Hussein Lots, the use of "green" cement is a binding condition for obtaining a building permit. The authorities will check the quality of the cement directly on construction sites. Companies who violate the law would face fines and a ban on the work.

"Green" cement was developed in Germany about three years ago. This material for a number of properties superior to Portland cement, which is used by most construction companies around the world. The Dubai authorities claim that ekotsement cleaner, more durable and more profitable from the point of view of project Economics. Emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere during its manufacture up to 80% less, than in the manufacture of Portland cement. Furthermore, such a cement is resistant to salt. According to assistant General Director for engineering and planning, Dubai municipality, Abdullah Raffia, production capacity in the UAE is more than enough. The Emirate is capable of producing 39 million tons of cement per year, with actual demand at 19 million tonnes. "In the UAE there are 12 factories producing cement.
