Entomologists have developed a device for catching bed bugs
French entomologists have developed a device for catching bed bugs, an article published in the Journal of Medical Entomology.

Bed bugs can potentially be a source of various diseases, so for laboratory studies, bed bugs should be collected with caution. The collection device must have sufficient power to remove insects from the depths of the mattress. At the same time, insects need to be brought to the laboratory in a live form so that bedbugs can organize a viable colony.
To solve this problem, scientists have developed a device that is actually a portable vacuum cleaner. As the researchers themselves note, suction devices of various designs for collecting arthropods were used before, but there was no special tool for catching bed bugs. With the help of this device, entomologists were able to collect more than 700 eggs, larvae and adult insects in 15 minutes.
Bed bugs first mentioned in 400 BC, the insect is a parasite of humans and warm-blooded animals. To date, there are no studies proving the ability of bedbugs to carry diseases. It is believed that the main harm insects are caused by the bites themselves, interfering with normal human sleep. To combat bedbugs, insecticides and prolonged dry heating of the room with a temperature not lower than +48 ° C are used.
P.S. And remember, just changing our consumption – together we change the world!
