Unprecedented whale discovered off the coast of Australia

A rare white humpback whale spotted off the coast of Queensland in Australia, observers hope that the famous Keith Migaloo.

The name of Migaloo Keith gave the aboriginal elders, it means "white guy". Migaloo, refers to a rare group of white whales that swim in the waters of Australia.

Monday, August 10, the white whale found with the helicopter staff, Seven News television around 11 am. If confirmed, this will be the first case of detection and shooting Keith Migaloo since his migration to the East coast of Australia last year.

According to the Department of the environment and of cultural heritage protection of Queensland, Migaloo first noticed in 1991 near Byron Bay. All the media trumpeted about it, since it was the world's first white humpback whale that has been discovered. The age of the whale, believed to have ranged from three to five years, it was male, judging by the recordings of his voice taken in 1998 and 2003

For many years, Migaloo observed in various places across Australia, there is even a Twitter about his movements.

Oscar Peterson, who collected information on Migaloo since the early 90-ies and send it to Twitter, told Australian publication Mashable that there should be more photos, then we can confirm whether this is Migaloo. Peterson believes that, it may not be, Migaloo, given the time of migration and that kit looks smaller and younger than Migaloo, who was last seen off the coast of Sydney and Cairns last year.

"Received the photos unconvincing," said Peterson. This kit seems to be bright white, whereas last year it had a yellowish tint. Migaloo incorrectly curved fin and a scar, he was damaged after a collision with a trimaran in the waters of Queensland in 2003. Both of these unique features are not visible in the available photographs.

"He collided with a trimaran, so it has a few scars on the left side, as well as the unusual shape of the fin-the hook on the back," said Peterson. — Photos and footage from YouTube (above) that fin is not as noticeable as Migaloo".

According to Peterson, Migaloo floats 8000-kilometer route along the East coast of Australia, from the Antarctic to tropical Queensland and back. He begins his journey in April, floats past the gold coast at the end of June and on the way back, at the end of October or early November. If it's everyone's favorite kit Migaloo, he is six weeks behind schedule.

Peterson thinks maybe it Migaloo Jr., the white baby whale seen in 2011, or he, Migaloo was delayed for some reason, for example, he had a distracting love interest.

"It could be Migaloo, but I while I am inclined to think that it's not him, given the size and time of year. This is very unusual, " said Peterson. — Maybe the fact that he was struck by the beauty of some white lady humped and sang her slow songs about love."

There are at least three other white whale in Australian waters. "Along the East coast in the last 4-5 years floated two white whale is the same size as Migaloo. We believe that there is one who travels to the West coast of Australia, but we have no photos to prove it — said Peterson, adding that there is also a white whale in the Northern hemisphere, sighted near Norway.published
