India will install solar panels on the roofs of 500 trains

In order to extend a successful pilot project in which frameworks on the roofs of some of the trains were equipped with solar energy system, the Indian government plans to financially support the expansion of the project. Namely: to provide grants to state Indian Railways company, which will be used to equip five hundred trains plying on the routes of local significance, solar energy systems.

The system will be used to power onboard systems of lighting, ventilation, and air conditioning. It is assumed that subsidies will be allocated from the National clean energy Fund, which is replenished at the expense of the tax collected from coal mined or imported into India.

The program is a Supplement to the existing plan, which is to install solar panels with a total power of 500 MW on the roofs of railway stations across India.published
