Archimede — economical and environmentally friendly electric car

Italian startup Futuro Solare has developed the first model of the Archimede electric car that is charged from solar panels built into the roof of the car. It is almost completely recyclable.

"We wanted to create a "solar car", because here in Sicily a lot of sun, this energy is available all year round, but its cost is obviously very small. The principle of operation of the machine is very simple — solar power that is converted to electricity through solar panels, charges the battery and then flows to the engine. The car can accelerate to 62 mph (100 km) and go without a single drop of fuel, if only the sun shines," — says in the video, the engineer Enzo di Bella, one of the developers.

The roof of the car, which resembles a racing, has dimensions of 4.5 m in length and 1.8 in width. Rooftop mounted 246 solar modules with a size of 156x156 mm. Their efficiency is 18-19%, the maximum power can reach up to 1000 watts.

Cars assembled from materials such as Styrofoam, aluminum, Kevlar and fiberglass. They are easily recyclable, which makes the production of electric cars economical and environmentally friendly.

The car has a brushless motor, which, according to developers, is theoretically infinite.

The campaign's fundraising platform Kickstarter the creators of this model have managed to raise €15000.

As said Enzo di Bella, thanks to the funds they will be able to improve the electronics of the car, and to test new models of engines, which will help improve the performance and efficiency of the machine. Whether started mass production of the electric car, is still unknown.
