Diet for asthma and eczema

These drugs work much faster, but do not forget about the serious side effects from using them from this point of view, the change in power looks more attractive. In the described experiment was used not the usual vegetarian diet.

The study was conducted in hospital under medical supervision, with use of serious calorie restriction – patients were always half-starved. A poet, it was difficult to determine what components of the diet had the most beneficial effect on the health of the subjects.

But what about more habitual vegetarian diet? In Sweden, at one time a large force gained movement proclaiming that a vegan diet can improve or even cure asthma. It was a pretty bold statement, so to test it, a group of orthopaedic surgeons in Germany the University hospital was observed with patients that adhered to a vegan diet during the year.

The participants of the study were to adhere strictly plant-based diet, it was patients with pronounced symptoms of asthma, which were observed for at least a year, while they do not help the best medical treatment and their condition has not improved or even worsened.

It so happened that in the group were very sick patients. 35 of them experienced severe form of bronchial asthma for 10 years. 20 of them were admitted to hospital because of acute asthma attacks in the past two years.

One of them was the rate of serious infusion therapy at least 23 times during this period and another patient visited the hospital at least 100 times, each time passing such medication. In another patient even had a cardiac arrest during an asthma attack, from which it is clear how serious were the problems of the subjects included in the test group.

11 people were unable to go to the vegetable diet, but of the 24 patients who succeeded 71% began to improve within the first 4 months and 92% within a year. There were those who did not have improvement for the entire year. Together with the advent of improvements patients took less medication. Four of them were able to completely abandon any medication, and only two ultimately are unable to reduce their dosage very. On average, the group reduced the level of drug intake from an average of 4,5 to 1,2, and someone managed not to abandon even the cortisone.

Some patients have noted significant improvement so that I defined it as: “It gave me a new life.” One nurse experienced a problem due to the fact that most of her colleagues were smokers, but after she switched to a plant-based diet, cigarette smoke no longer caused her seizures and other symptoms of asthma. Other study participants reported similar improvements. If they could only live in a totally clean environment and felt isolated in their homes, they now have the opportunity to go outside without experiencing asthma attacks.

But it's not limited to only subjective improvements.The researchers found significant improvements in clinical data, especially important in determining the health of the lungs, their vital capacity, the volume of the forced output, and physical performance, as well as the decline of ROE (a marker of inflammatory processes) and the level of IgE (allergic antibody).





So, the study was conducted on 35 patients suffering from serious forms of asthma over 12 years. They are all long time was treated with different medications, and 20 of them took, including cortisone. All were asked to go on a vegan diet and most of them it helped to reduce the number of medication or even to abandon these, along with the reduction of symptoms.

Despite the positive results of the tests in this case was not a test "blind" group (with placebo effect). This research cannot be absolutely objective. At the same time, the good news is that there was no negative side effects when transitioning to a plant-based diet, but showed up positive.
