Finnish robot sorts all types of solid debris

Finnish company ZenRobotics has developed an industrial robot for recycling. System sensors continually monitor the solid waste stream, and the program analyzes the data in real time. As a result, the waste is sorted quickly and accurately. System ZenRobotics Recycler (ZRR) is able to sort the metal, different kinds of wood, minerals, hard plastics, cardboard. The program also trained to notice unusual objects or new types of garbage.

Training ZRR is simply due to the fact that the system show examples of objects you want to sort, the company said. Using simple controls the user can configure the program, and access to data stored on the cloud reports is done through computers, smart phones or tablets.

ZenRobotics already supplying your robot in Sweden and Australia. And in the early autumn two new sorting lines will earn in Japan and France. Since launching in 2014 the company sold 15 systems, the price of which is not disclosed.

According to the report of the Department of urban development the world Bank, the volume of municipal solid waste in 2025 will increase from the current 1.3 billion tonnes per year to 2.2 billion mainly due To the rapid growth of cities in developing countries. The annual cost of disposing of this waste will rise from $205 billion to $375 billion.

The U.S. recycles 34% of their produced waste. Some European countries do better: Germany — 62%, Austria — 63%.
