Airbus has patented a hybrid aircraft with vertical takeoff

Basic diagram of the hybrid aircraft spied from drones. The aircraft can take off and land vertically, and the energy for the flight will get from electric motors and from the classic DVS. Described in the patent, the aircraft can take off vertically and switch to horizontal flight. For vertical takeoff the aircraft is equipped with a set of four propellers, powered by separate motors. A similar principle is used for modern quadcopters.

Energy for the motors comes from battery and a special generator connected to the onboard internal combustion engine. The same engine turns the propeller which provides the aircraft acceleration in the horizontal plane.

The patent emphasizes that the vertical screws are installed in the pylons above the wings. Each pylon can hold two rotor Assembly with two blades each. When switching airplane mode helical units will stop and "hide" in the body of the pylon.

To increase the speed of the aircraft and allow it to carry more cargo weight, the ship can be equipped with two propellers installed in the bow.

Airbus has not indicated what size is the plane, but judging by the picture, the prototype is designed for two people. The basic layout of the aircraft can be used to create a smaller version, e.g. for drone couriers, and for the development of a large military cargo ship.

French aircraft manufacturer known for its ambitious plans. In 2010, Airbus jointly with Siemens is developing a hybrid aircraft fuel and electricity, which can carry hundreds of passengers to a distance of 1000 km.

In parallel, the company develops the project of a flying taxi CityAirbus, which can be accessed via an app like Uber. Also in the spring of Airbus filed a patent for the creation of the world's fastest helicopter in the world — his speed is 472 km/h published
