A magical confluence

Most of the rivers of our planet is only one direction in which they flow. But eating a lot of rivers, whose direction is divided into an infinite number of fine channels. And it's not about the deltas.

Most of these "wicker" wide rivers, but shallow. These numerous "sleeves" are formed in areas with steep slopes and where the water is saturated with a large number of coarse-grained sediments. In addition to the gradient, and heavy rainfall, it is also important, and the flow rate. Very often the "braided" river have formed mountain ranges and glaciers. The structure of the water flow is in constant motion. That is, some channels appear and others disappear with time. See below for some beautiful areas of "braided" rivers from all over the world.
