Dead Fin Whale on Cape Cod-Necropsy -Provincetown, MA (Graphic Content)
Images by Rachael Montejo- Please read below ... This whale washed up on the beach and was already dead before this professional scientific and authorized team began a necropsy to determine the death. The meat can not be eaten. Whales are protected in this country. Whale necropsy (to determine the cause of death-and the meat is not edible nor is it legal to eat whale meat in the US) performed by IFAW and WHOI in May, 2009 at Herring Cove in Provincetown, MA. (www.rachmonte.com) (It is believed that the whale was hit by a large boat at sea and it also showed other signs of illness. The whale was already dead when it washed up on shore and the whale meat was not edible ( it had been dead for too long and it is illegal to eat whale meat in the US). All the research performed during and post necropsy will help to advance our understanding about whales and what we can do to protect and preserve them and our natural surroundings -including rerouting large ship routes to avoid hitting whales at sea.) Thank you for viewing my video. Music by David Michael and Lee Pomeroy- Song title- «Peace» -I am unable to reply to so many emails as this has been viewed about 20 Million times to date.
