There are planets out of the water
Astronomers have confirmed the existence of a new class of planets, "water world" with a dense vapor atmosphere. Exoplanet GJ 1214b is located at a distance of only 40 light years away. It was called the "Super Earth" as is larger than our planet, but smaller than gas giants such as Jupiter.
Observations with the Hubble Space Telescope seems to confirm that most of the mass of this planet is water. High temperatures on the planet gives the assumption that there might exist exotic matter.
«GJ 1214b is like no one known planets," - said study author Bert Zahor (Zachory Berta) from the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
The planet was discovered in 2009 with the help of ground-based telescopes. It rotates around its relatively cool star, a red dwarf, a distance of only 2 million kilometers, which means that the temperature of the planet GJ 1214b, is likely to reach 200 degrees Celsius.
Its diameter larger than the Earth 2, 7 times, and the mass of the mass of the Earth 7 times. This means that the density of the planet may be greater than the density of the earth 20 times.
