Many of the ideas that are in the current implementation of the projects can not be called modern. They occurred to many people in the past, but were not implemented for various reasons - that technology was not suitable for the realization of the idea in life, contemporaries did not understand the idea, the idea of the author are not too eager to implement it.
MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and now, before offering and offers an interesting project. Even in 1977, a team of researchers at MIT created a real intelligent system capable of recognizing speech, touching fingers gestures. This system can even make phone calls on demand. The system is called Spatial Data Management System.
The project lay that the authors of the system called "spatial reasoning". According to them people regularly use the space, people manipulate the space for their own purposes. In addition, the common man remembers where that is in the house (in most cases) and where a facility is located in his hometown.
The system consisted of a special chair, which was called «Captain Kirk Chair», projector, and a few other elements such as eight-channel audio. According to the developers, Spatial Data Management System represents the first multimedia computer. The problem was the primitiveness of chips that have been used to control the system. If overheated electronics, nothing worked. If the temperature is too low, the system is not working again. Developers had to adjust the system clock to show her work.
