Ancient mosaic
On the territory of the Turkish city of Zeugma found several ancient mosaics, whose age is 2000 years. Because of the threat of flooding of the ancient ruins, a team of archaeologists from Ankara began to carry out excavations in the area and came across a well-preserved mosaic, showing us the Greek and Roman art.
How do I find archaeologists excavated the ruins of the city were Seleucia, founded in the 3rd century BC by the Greeks. Part of the ancient city is now under water, however, and undrowned parts can be found well-preserved artifacts. These colorful glass mosaic decorated homes of wealthy people, depicting scenes from various literary works of the time, or the characters of ancient myths.
In 64 BC the city was conquered by the Roman Empire and renamed Zeugma. In 253 AD, the city came under the control of the Persian king.
