Looks like molten metal in space?

Not so long ago brought to the ISS "space foundry" - a device for melting small amounts of metals in conditions of weightlessness. Of course, no blast furnaces, and similar units on the ISS, and there can not be, a device for melting - the same high-tech, like everything else at the station.

Developed the "melting" experts of the European Space Agency. It is equipped with not only the unit responsible for the melting of metals, but also "levitatorom" - a system that is responsible for holding the molten metal ball in one place.

That is why astronauts do without walls for this installation. Foundry itself (even someone else called forge) is used to study the properties of molten metals in weightlessness. Metal cooling will be studied because of its structure in these conditions will be a little different than on Earth.

In the future, the ISS will conduct the creation of various alloys, with the fixation process of melting and cooling, high-speed camera.
