In Arizona, are planning to build a huge concrete pipe for electric power generation

In the web the other day there was news about the rather strange (but interesting) project alternative power. Thus, the company Solar Wind Energy Tower Inc. received permission from the authorities of the town of San Luis (Arizona, USA) for the project valued at 1, 5 billion dollars.

The project consists in the construction of 686-meter-high concrete pipe, through which it is planned to receive 435 MWh of energy per year. In this design, provided its inception is the second highest in the world. Above - only the notorious Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai.

In a place where it is planned to build a tower - the desert, and the air throughout the year remains dry and hot (except for a couple of months). According to the plan sponsors, plan to cool the air by spraying tiny droplets of water on top of the tower. Water will be pumped. Heated dry air when it is saturated with cold water droplets will cool, and "settle", and with decent speed - 80 kilometers per hour.

At the bottom of the tower will vias turbines blades which settles air and will rotate. Accordingly, we obtain the energy.

Here's how you plan to implement this process:

Despite the approval of the project by the City, it does not mean the intention to finance construction of the "tower". No money for construction, buyers killed bear skins produced (in theory) of electricity while also not. There are only a project that, by itself, raises a number of questions from the experts.

For example - as is necessary for spraying water, what are the energy costs for pumping water into the upper part of the "pipe" and everything else. The author of "pipe" it would be nice to build even a small working prototype of such a station to show the practicality and reality of this project.

Nevertheless, the management of Solar Wind is planning to get a working tower already in 2018.
