Moscow missile defense system A-135

Missile defense system in Moscow A-135 is designed for the "reflection of limited nuclear attack on the Russian capital and the central industrial regions».
Development began in 1971. Accepted into service in 1995. Military-technical concept of the A-135 included:
defeat warhead intercontinental ballistic missiles of the enemy interceptor missiles with nuclear warheads (instead of the non-nuclear system A-35);
the use of two levels of interception goals: long-range interceptor missiles at high altitudes out of the atmosphere and shorter-range interceptor missiles in the atmosphere;
selection (distinction) heavy ICBM warheads from lung false (masking) the objectives assigned to radar fired before.
