Mars: Six and a half years instead of 90 days
Today, the rover Opportunity has set a new record of stay on Mars, surpassing the achievement of the unit "Viking-1", which worked on the surface of the Red Planet 6 years and 116 days.
"Viking-1", arrived on Mars July 20, 1976, was the first spacecraft to distant lands, which not only made a soft landing (the first was in 1971, the Soviet "Mars-3"), but also worked on it kakoe- that for a long time (signal "Mars-3" disappeared after a few seconds after the start of work).
The current record holder «Opportunity» down on Mars January 25, 2004, and still works, although has been calculated only 90 days of work.
