Golden Tortoise Beetle

Golden tortoise beetle (Charidotella sexpunctata) is widely distributed in North America. Insect reaches only 5-7 mm in length and has a golden color shell. But it makes an unusual ability to change color if the trouble. The color change provides microscopic valves that regulate the level of moisture under the shell.
