The life of the homeless in New York City

53 photos + text.

"Cave City" - is a powerful photo project for homeless men and women of the West Harlem, created by photographer Andrea Star Reese. She started this project when working on Photoprogram photo-documentary journalism. One of its tasks was to create a photo essay "New York Metro", which led her to the tunnel, which is nicknamed "Bat Cave." There she found a community of people rather complicated. Chuck, Lisa, Chrissy Snow and Country - they were like family. Reese was able to earn their trust, so she became a witness to this history. Reese says she takes the people, not the problem, and it shows in her photographs.
