July 19, 1941 after stripping in the village of Orahovac his platoon was ordered to act as a firing squad. Required to execute 19 people on suspicion of involvement in the guerrilla movement. The usual story.
Unusually its ending. Joseph Schultz refused to participate in the shooting. And after he was reminded that for disobedience relies military tribunal, he put the weapon and stood in line with put to death. And with them was killed.
Save photo made by one of rasstrelschikov. Schultz comes to the Serbs.
Serbs, I must say, this historical fact has impressed so much so that Schultz mentioned in Serbian history textbooks, and even erected a monument to him.
