Tighter control of arms sales
In connection with the recent tragic events in Newtown the US government began a debate on control of arms sales. This is a pretty serious state, political, public and purely human problem, which, apparently, will not be easy to solve. While the debate is gaining momentum, and the National Rifle Association is fighting back to common sense, the stars of television, music and film have decided to support the initiative Demand a Plan, which aims to create a public authority legislation controlling the sale of arms.
A petition already signed by more than 135 million Americans, some of whom are celebrities - Jamie Foxx, Paul Rudd, Michelle Williams, Beyonce, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Jessica Alba, Reese Witherspoon, Olivia Munn, Ellen DeGeneres, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Garner, Selena Gomez, Chris Rock, Cameron Diaz, Courteney Cox, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Aubrey Plaza, Conan O'Brien and many others. In addition, they acted in a motivational video, supports this initiative.
As I said, the adoption of such legislative measures in the current situation is quite complicated thing. Since the National Rifle Association is a highly influential organization, whose members no matter what, with confidence and firmly stand over on his own, arguing that carrying weapons - a fundamental right of every American, enshrined in the Constitution. The solution according to the head of the association is not in tightening control. "The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun - a good guy with a gun" - Wayne LaPierre said during a press conference.
