Erasing memory

Scientists from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) claim that they were able to move closer to implementing the science-fiction ideas about erasing memory. They found the gene that is responsible for the destruction of memories. The key to the elimination of unpleasant memories should be the process of replacement of old memories with new ones. Scientists plan to change the lives of mankind by using a gene known as Tet1. They compared the behavior of laboratory mice with the gene Tet1 the behavior of mice in which he was "knocked out." Both groups were placed in a cage and allowed easy discharge toka.

Both are used to associate the cage with the pain that causes the discharge. When the mice were again put into the same cell, but was not allowed to talk, it was found that mice with Tet1 not afraid of cells, while the other group, in which he was "knocked out" behaved nervously. As a result, scientists have concluded that the mice Tet1 old memories were simply replaced by new information. Scientists believe that if they will enhance the activity of the gene Tet1, they can help people who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and even drug addicts.
