Valentine's Day is held in Minsk under the motto "Day of sobriety" - the power of the Belarusian capital banned the sale of alcoholic beverages in the shops of the city on February 14.
All heads of district administrations were encouraged to suspend the sale of alcoholic beverages from 9:00 to 23:00 local time.
Reportedly, the initiative to hold a day of sobriety in Minsk on Valentine's Day belonged to the police. The campaign also policemen are patrolling the capital's discos, along with teachers and parents.
