How to co-write a new documentary by Alan Badoev
103 days ago, Russia treacherously invaded the territory of sovereign Ukraine. Ukrainians are fully aware of how it can change wartime. Fear and panic replaced confidence in the overall victory. However, the pain has not gone away. And that must be remembered.
Famous Ukrainian director Alan Badoev decided to immortalize in the memory of millions of people the events that forever changed the life of every Ukrainian. He announced his new project – the creation of a documentary film about the war in Ukraine. And the main feature of this film will be that anyone can become a part of it. We explain all the details further in the article.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine. Since then, the life of Ukrainians seemed to pause. Although it has been 103 days since the first explosions and airborne alerts, it still feels as if February is not over.
Perhaps it was this feeling that prompted Alan Badoev to title his documentary "Dove Dobe". Translated into Russian, this means “long days”. The director plans to shoot the film together with the Ukrainian TV channel 1+1.
In this film, the clipmaker wants to show how the life of Ukrainians has changed because of the war. This is a story about the plans and dreams of people who lived their last peaceful day and faced a completely new reality that erased their past.
To make a truly modern film about the war, Badoev decided to enlist the support of the audience. To this end, he announced the collection of documentary materials. Every Ukrainian who recorded himself and his family on video in the last days before the war, as well as in the first days of the invasion, can join the film.
Russia’s current war against Ukraine is in fact the first war recorded by each participant and witness in real time. We want to collect these testimonies and through the personal stories of Ukrainians and their experiences to immerse the world in what each of us had to experience, to touch and experience the emotions that we are experiencing right now.
How to co-write a documentary about the war At the heart of the documentary is an unusual idea. The film chronicles the war will be shown as ordinary Ukrainians see it. This is a kind of reflection of events through the prism of personal stories. We can say that the script for the tape will be written by the entire Ukrainian people.
To become a co-author of the future film, you need to fill out a questionnaire, as well as send video materials.
Videos should show how your family lived before and during the war. Bombing, sheltering, sleeping in unknown places, talking and just your thoughts - in a video can be anything. Every detail and every word is important. But even more important are the emotions that haunt people.
GettyImages wrote in a co-authorship form: "Share with us some of the most painful moments you have experienced during this war." No one affected by Russian aggression should be forgotten.” Perhaps this is the main message of the film “Dovga Doba”.
It is very important to perpetuate in the memory of the whole world the horror that Russia brought to Ukraine. Capture heartbreaking moments in the lives of ordinary citizens who dream of peace. People and their stories need to be heard. It is great that thanks to Alan Badoev this idea will be realized.
