The cost of solar energy in 2017 will fall below 2 cents per kWh
According to the forecast of research company GTM Research, the price of solar energy this year will fall below 2 cents per kWh, beating the previous record of 2.42 cents per kWh, offered at auction in Abu Dhabi.
According to analysts at GTM Research, which predict an increase in the combined capacity of the solar panels in 2017, 85 GW, at the first tender in Saudi Arabia this year may be offered the price of solar energy below 2 cents per kWh.
"The conditions under which it will be held the first tender in Saudi Arabia, similar to those under which was set the previous records: the sustainability of the project, almost zero the cost of land for construction, low cost of permits, low taxes, and extremely attractive financial conditions," — said Ben Attia, an analyst at GTM Research.
The previous record was set in September last year at an auction in Abu Dhabi, when a Chinese manufacturer of solar panels, JinkoSolar and Japanese Marubeni offered a price of 2.42 cents per kWh of solar energy. Before the auction in Chile, the company SunEdison offered to 2.91 cents per kWh. published
