In China successfully tested the first hydrogen aircraft

China has successfully conducted the first test of an electric-powered light aircraft powered by onboard hydrogen fuel cells. According to the publication “Keji Jibao”, the test flight of this aircraft took place recently in the city of Shenyang (north-eastern province of Liaoning).

The machine is a single-seat aircraft that does not produce any harmful emissions when operating, and its only exhaust is water. According to the Chinese agency, the electric plane made its first flight, rising to an altitude of 320 meters. The process was in normal mode, and the device demonstrated the expected characteristics and worked without failures even at an air temperature of -20 C.

It is reported that the hydrogen aircraft was designed by the joint efforts of the Dalian Bureau of Chemical Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Liaoning Aviation Research Institute. The basis for the new device was the Chinese electric aircraft RX1E and developed by Chinese scientists electric drive on hydrogen fuel cells with a capacity of up to 20 kilowatts. Additional power to create increased thrust in the moments of take-off and climbing, the engine is supplied with on-board batteries, which are then charged from fuel cells.

Germany has also successfully tested a hydrogen passenger aircraft. The car was called H4, has two separate fuselages, can accommodate 4 passengers and is able to overcome up to 1400 km with a maximum speed of 200 km / h.
