If the electric car can be operated from a lithium-ion battery, why not use this solution for buildings? And to build such buildings that can provide renewable energy not only themselves, but also neighboring homes and even whole neighborhoods.





The sixteen-storey building, the architectural appearance of which created a firm Frey Architekten, erected in Freiburg im Breisgau. In developing participated the German Institute for solar energy systems name Fraunhofer (ISE) and Siemens.





The house is equipped with high-performance photovoltaic panels, adapted for low light. The authors call the innovation system of their location on the facade and a system of mutual connection. Energy will be accumulated in lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.5 MW*h.

In addition to it will be installed vanadium flow redox batteries, allowing it to level out fluctuations of renewable electricity, for example, in the night time or calm weather, thereby ensuring an uninterrupted supply.





Inside the house wiring is powered by DC voltage. However, the building will be able to send excess electricity through the connection with the regional grid. "Our society wastes too much. We need to more effectively and preserve our resources," says project architect Wolfgang Frey. This is not the first construction project in Germany, based on the use of renewable energy. By the firm Frey Architekten is already underway construction of a residential complex in Heidelberg, which will consist entirely of "passive houses", that is, those who either do not consume energy from external sources, or consume it in dozens of times less than usual.





The building is equipped with solar panels that will break the vertical gardens. To avoid wasting energy you could even paint on the walls — it will oxidize the nitrogen oxides, converting them into harmless nitrates. The air will be oxygenated. According to the adopted by the German government's Energy concept 2050 the demand for electricity in the country should be fully covered by renewable energy sources. published
