Benefits of brisk walking
A daily half-hour walk in a cheerful rhythm protects women from stroke.
The American Heart Association Stroke has published a new study on stroke prevention in women. As shown by a long observation, to significantly reduce the risk of stroke, the fair sex enough every day to make a walk with a quick step.
To test their endurance took 39 thousand American women over the age of 45 years. For twelve years, scientists observed their physical activity. It turned out that those women who were not lazy and devoted 30 minutes of daily brisk walking, the risk of stroke was reduced by 37%, compared with those who did not bother with such loads.
According to the scientific theory, active movements accelerate blood flow as much as possible, thus preventing blood from thickening and preventing the formation of blood clots. “The main condition is regularity and fast walking pace,” explains study leader Jacob Satellmaer.
Scientists also remind women that in addition to strengthening the heart, walking at a strenuous pace improves the supply of oxygen to the lungs and respiratory function. Like other endurance sports, it strengthens muscles and also helps burn calories, although this will take a little longer.
