Day sweets to USA

Annually on the third Saturday of October, the USA celebrates the Day of sweets (Sweetest Day). This tradition originated in Cleveland in 1922, when Herbert Kingston (Herbert Birch Kingston), philanthropist and candy factory worker, decided to help the destitute orphans, the poor and all those who are experiencing hard times. Kingston gathered a small group of residents of the city, and with the help of friends, they organized the distribution of small gifts to somehow support the hungry, those whom the government has forgotten long ago.

During the first Day of sweets movie star Anna Pennington gave 2200 Cleveland boys-newsboys sweet gifts in gratitude for their work. Another major film star Theda Bara (Theda Bara) gave 10 thousand boxes of candy to patients in Cleveland hospitals and to all those who came to watch her film in a local cinema. Original sweets Day was observed mainly in the Central and Western regions of the United States — in the States of Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. In recent years, the popularity of the holiday has grown considerably and now the geography of the celebration has extended to other areas of the United States, particularly the North-Eastern part of the country.

Ohio — the home of sweets Day — this day sold most of sweet products. Behind him in the top ten sales should be California, Florida, Michigan, and Illinois. This holiday is the perfect excuse (along with Valentine's Day) to Express romantic feelings and friendships. In this day people give chocolate or roses, and all that is the epitome of delicious — it is expected that love should be as sweet as chocolate milk!
