Dar al Hajar is a castle built on the rock

In Yemen there are several attractions that are included in the world heritage list of UNESCO. Among them – the ancient cities of Shibam and Zabid, as well as exotic island nature reserve Socotra. Despite the fact that the value of an architectural monument of Dar al Hajar much more modest, to visit it would be interesting for tourists. For many years in Yemen had neither kings, nor presidents. Only in 1999 was first elected head of state, and before that, the country was ruled by the Imam. Extraordinary Palace was built by Imam Yahya in the 1930s, it was designed as the summer residence of the religious leader. Yahya was assassinated in 1948, the Dar al Hajar through the years, was renovated, and it was equipped with a five-storey Museum. In the castle of many rooms, among which there are several meeting rooms that were used by the Imam to meet with senior officials, a separate "women's" rooms, and warehouses. In addition, there is provided a system for cooling water and even have a well, which is especially important in the desert.
