Phenomenon of the Carpathian village of Staruni

The Carpathian village Staruni is naturally gifted with a volcano. He began his life in March 1977. It owes its birth to an earthquake in the Vrancha Mountains in the Romanian Carpathians. This is how the Starun volcano works, then rests from time to time. Today, the volcano managed to grow by 3 meters, from which flow small streams that are enriched with the entire table of Mendeleev.

The research of the volcano is carried out mainly by scientists of Ivano-Frankivsk State Technical University of Oil and Gas and Polish scientists from the Krakow Mining Academy.

The volcano is not the only local wonder. In 1907, German researchers discovered the embalmed body of a mammoth. Surprisingly, it is well preserved in the ozokerite layers, even herbal plants remained in the stomach.

From the ozokerite mine in 1929, the Poles extracted a furry rhino which was about 24 thousand years old, which together with the mammoth is stored in the Museum of Krakow University and Lviv Natural. But the village of Staruni continues to amaze. 17 ancient human settlements of the XII-V millennia BC were found on the territory of the village. At the other end of the village, the path leads to a salt well with a depth of 20 meters, and the salt concentration in the water is 70 percent.
