Spitbank Fort Hotel - island hotel in the UK

Located, one mile offshore from Portsmouth harbour, Hampshire (UK), the 134 year old Spitbank Fort was originally used to protect the coast of Britain against ships and light aircraft. After the First world war in 1982, the Ministry of defence gave a historical landmark in the hands of private owners. But owners from time to time changed. The current owners acquired the castle not so long ago, in 2010. They conducted an extensive reconstruction, due to which, the castle opened its doors as a hotel. It happened in 2012. The reconstruction of the fortress was spent close to 3 million pounds (US $ 4.85 million), but if they had not been spent, the fortress would be converted into an exclusive hotel-island or island-hotel.

Many of the original features of the fortress was saved. These stored features are brick walls, Windows and a couple of old cannons.
