Longest coma in history

In one of the hospitals in Miami, at the age of 59, died a woman who almost all his life was unconscious. Edwarda O'Bara, a sixteen-year-old girl, fell into a diabetic coma. The media dubbed Edwarda “Sleeping Snow White.” She was in a coma for 42 years. Interestingly, the girl’s eyes were open all the time, but there was no consciousness: she could neither hear nor see others and was unable to perceive everything that was happening around her.

The last thing Edward said to her mother was, “Promise you won’t leave me.” She remembered her daughter’s words for life, and for the next 35 years, Kay O’Bara stayed with her daughter, grooming and giving her birthdays, leaving only to shower and sleep. In 2008, her mother died at the age of 80. She was replaced by the sister of Sleeping Snow White. She was the witness to Edward’s death.

“She just closed her eyes and went to heaven with our mommy,” said Colin O’Bara.

Colin believes that Eduarda was not only “the best sister imaginable”, but also taught her a lot without even talking to her. "It's really great," she concluded.
