What is the edge of the earth?
In a Large Australian Gulf in South Australia is a large and desolate nullarbor plain – world's end. This incredibly large single piece of limestone, which occupies an area of 280 000 sq. km, Its length was 1000 km from East to West. The surface plain so flat that to 480 km there is a direct line Transatlantische railway. Plain ends with a rock Bund, which forms a cliff with a length of 200 km, curving around the Great Australian Bight.
Rock Bund forms the southern end of the plain Nullarbor. White base near the bottom of the cliff is limestone Wilson Bluff. This chalky material appeared on the ancient seabed when Australia separated from Antarctica 60 million years ago. The thickness of this layer was 300 meters, but on the cliff you can see only its top layer.
Above this layer are located white, grey and brown layers of limestone or crystalline rocks. Some layers immersed myself in marine fossils, together with worms and clams, which indicates their Maritime proishojdenii. Other layers consist only of a marine segment (foraminifera). Completes the rock solid layer of the inflated blown sand age from 1.6 million to 100,000 years.
The cliff is up to 60-120 meters in height, and look at it from several points on the Eyre highway. Although it is best to look at them, of course, from the air.
