In East Africa there is a state of Burundi. Official UN figures say that the state is the poorest country in the world, since GDP per capita is 177 USD.

1. Though Burundi is considered the poorest nation in economic terms, in its territory in 1974 was discovered ot 3 to 5% of the world's Nickel reserves. Also, in the state has deposits of such metals as gold, platinum group metals and rare earth metals.

2. Near Burundi are such States: Tanzania, Rwanda and the Congo. Landlocked Burundi has not. From the South-West side of the state bordering the Tanganyika – the longest freshwater lake in the world. Tanganyika, and Baikal is one of the oldest and deepest lakes.

3. In Burundi a total of 600 square kilometers of forests. All the rest had to be cut down as the population density is 323 people per square kilometer. Not only flora, but fauna in the state has decreased due to agricultural activities.

4. Just imagine, 1,000 people in Burundi have 4, 8 computers, 20 mobile phones and 4.1 fixed-line phones.

5. In the seventeenth century, formed an independent Kingdom under the name of Burundi. In 1890 it became a colony of Germany. After Belgium. Again Burundi became an independent state only in 1962, but that did not stop attempts by various coups and civil wars between ethnic groups Hutu and Tutsi.
