QueensWay Park in New York: creative greening of the city

Recently, the authorities of New York organized a competition of architects for the most daring design of the park. As a result, the first place in this design competition was taken by the concept of QueensWay Park, the world’s first air park. It is difficult to say how great the chances of QueensWay appear in reality, but the project itself collected the most votes.



The creators of QueensWay were guided by the fact that Americans on the one hand love amusement parks, and on the other - the most ordinary parks with green spaces and treadmills, where they come to relax from the daily bustle. The QueensWay project should be something in between.



The concept of this unusual park resembles the legendary roller coaster. The peculiarity is that they are not designed for electronic trains, but for ordinary people. In fact, QueensWay is a high observation deck with paths on which people can walk. At the same time, on the paths of QueensWay should be placed shrubs and trees that will “float in the air” on a giant metal structure.


In addition to the QueensWay high-rise park, several more landscaping projects were proposed at the ENYA festival. The most interesting ideas of the “green” architects were the proposal to place bushes and trees in flower beds on the bridges-highways of the “Big Apple”. One concept even proposed to completely green the roofs of low buildings, planting a lawn on them. The authors of the Ozone Park concept proposed to divide each major district of New York into green stripes, on which local parks will be created along the entire border between the administrative districts of the city.
