Abuse of salty foods accelerates the aging process
Scientists insist on the need to control the consumption of salty food.
In the experiment conducted by researchers from the Medical College of Georgia, revealed the impact the length of telomeres, a large number of edible salt. The study involved 766 teenagers aged 14 to 18 years with normal and overweight and also suffering from obesity. Obese teenagers who abuse salty foods, telomere length in the result was much smaller. Young people of normal weight, the presence in the diet of large amounts of salt had no effect on telomeres.
According to scientists, it is now possible to speak with confidence about the existence of a link of cellular aging and consumption of salty foods, although as yet it is unknown what role in the shortening of telomeres is directly salt.
