Biogas plant for food waste
Every year new Smithfield sends to landfill 370 tons of food waste. City officials and OakTech Environmental has started construction of a biogas plant anaerobic nigeriane (AD) with constant power generation of 500 VVT. She will work to ensure the needs of the market and provide excess energy to the overall power grid.
This is the first UK project, which will be used was developed at the University of Utah (USA) IBR-technology.
The city Council expects in the future to double the capacity of the plant to 1 mW, connecting to the local heating system. In order to avoid running out of fuel will collect organic waste from restaurants and food manufacturers.
