An intriguing finding of archaeologists— 1500-year-old claws

Archaeologists in Peru have reported the excavation of a previously unknown tomb of a nobleman from the pre-Inca civilization known as the Moche.In the tomb found the remains of an adult male, plus artifacts indicating elite status men, writes the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio .





Among the most intriguing artifacts decorative metal parts, created in the form of a cat's paws with claws. The paws may have been part of a ritual costume used in ceremonial combat, according to El Comercio. The losers were sacrificed, and the winner received a suit.

Archaeologist Santiago Uceda, excavation Huaca de La Luna in the Peruvian city of Trujillo, said that the tomb and its contents, which is believed to be 1,500 years old, may shed light on the culture of the Urine, an agricultural and artistic society, which was destroyed nearly 800 years.
